The New York Times and Jay-Z shed light on the failed war on drugs

The New York Times released a short film detailing the United States’ war on drugs and its inability to actually subside the drug trade within the country. The video clocks in at just around four minutes, and covers everything from former U.S. president Richard Nixon’s initial implementation of the initiative to Ronald Reagan’s backtracking on the strategy and the eventual unjust repercussions that would face ethnic minorities when compared to their Caucasian counterparts.

Narrated by Jay-Z himself, along with illustrations by the talented Molly Crabapple, the video is definitely worth watching and provides some much needed insight on an issue that is unfortunately still plaguing a country struggling to keep its global reputation in tact.
