The struggle is still going strong.
Nine years after dropping his classic ‘Food & Liquor’ album, Lupe unloaded the music video for this uplifting track. Dropped around the time of the unnecessary police-related deaths of Eric Garner and Freddie Gray, the video shows average Chicago residents living their daily lives as they move through the plight in their world.
Lupe himself doesn’t make an appearance, instead shifting the focus onto Chi-Town’s inhabitants as they partake in their day-to-day activities. Every group however does carry an old-school portable radio where the song is played from, indicating music keeps his community bonded.
This track is a steady reminder to those suffering, things may have to get worse before they get better…even if the time in between seems like an eternity. The sun gon’ shine eventually.
